![]() ![]() The scenery is absolutely stunning and you are immediately away from civilisation and deep into the jungle. There are a lot of ants and other unidentified little pests. While there are few mosquitoes you will inevitably get some insect bites. And you will probably pick up a few bruises, scratches and scrapes. You would get a lot more out of this if you were active and reasonably fit. Also, the opportunities for swimming in the pools and climbing up and around the waterfalls needed an adventurous spirit. However, some of the hikes were strenuous, slippery and needed some clambering over rocks and fallen trees. The river flows fast enough for you to just sit back and enjoy the scenery and paddle if you want to - or just take the odd stroke to avoid the odd submerged fallen tree. Now some information: The kayaking was easy and required no prior skills or any real fitness. First things first: We loved it! It met all our expectations and was a great way to go and play in the jungle and along the river with all the arrangements taken care of by someone else. Also kayaking for 200 KM can be exhausting, although there is always the option that Erikes helps you for some parts.Īn adventurous trip for people who want to see the real rainforest and get up close and personal. You should not expect it to be like a zoo and you should be able to enjoy just being on the river seeing forest for hours (could be monotonic for some people). I really loved it! But it's also not for everybody. Everything was well organized and its a very authentic and environmentally-respectful trip. Its very hot all the time but the river is nice to get a fresh bath anytime you need.Įrikes and Dherik are very nice persons and really great cooks that were able to provide awesome food everyday in the limited environment. Also seeing one of the most beautiful star skys, the forest full of fireflies, doing kayak alone on the river in the early morning hours are very special experiences. Especially sleeping in the forest every night was a very nice thrill and experience. The Amazon is not the best place to spot animals, its more about being totally immersed in nature. ![]() And most of the time we weren't seeing any other humans at all on the river! Since we wanted to also see the beautiful waterfalls of Presidente Figueiredo Erikes arranged to add an additional day for seeing some of the best waterfalls and at night we were sleeping next to a very beautiful waterfall!ĭuring the trip we saw some snakes, a family of giant otters (that was really amazing!), caimans, monkey and birds. It was private tour with Erikes and his colleague Dherik. ![]() A colleague and I decided to do the 6d Urubur River Expedition. ![]()
